Crochet cushion and travel

In about half and hour I will be setting off to visit the folks in Yorkshire.  Five hours drive, but not really too bad if the traffic isn't heavy.

But before I go I wanted to post more rocking chair progress.

And today we had our first ripe strawberry!

Hopefully by the time return on Wednesday there'll be more.  Something for me to look forward to.

Late evening post...

Today was a strange day really.  Work was all fits and starts and I suddenly had a conference call at 7pm which threw me a little on a Friday.  No idea why, it just did.

I'm posting this from my 'other computer.'  Still getting the stupid error message on the usual one, so switched to the games machine in the hopes that the other modem and isp provider works better!  So far so good and fingers crossed for future workingness.

In terms of craftly creativity today was quite good.

I don't think I've mentioned yet that I have decided to restore my old pine rocking chair that resides in The Conservatory.  It got paint on it when himself's alcoholic half brother was doing some work for us in the previous house, and then Cloud chewed odd bits of the bottom of it when he was a puppy.  Anyway, I don't want to paint it because is it really is lovely pine so I decided I am gonna sand down the chewed bits, when we get a decent day and add some extra bits to make it comfortable.  So I trotted off to that veritable Aladins cave of useful house type items the other day and bought some cushion innards and a seat pad.

A few days ago I started making a cover for the back...

Oh and there is my lovely new jug and vase and watering can!  Anyway, back to the crochet... The ripple pattern came from the usual place here at attic24.  I liked it because it was a gentle ripple rather than one with sharp points.  

 Anyway, today I finished it.  Here it is on the soon to be lovingly restored roching chair in The Conservatory.

 And here it is again with the watering can and matching planter I bought for my friend for her birthday present.

The seat pad will eventually be covered with crochet hexagons and I have nearly completed the first of the crochet cushion covers.  So hopefully there will be a pretty and comfy rocking chair for me to sit in to knit and crochet, in The Conservatory in the Summer.

 

Crafty catchup part two

Sunnier weather and a tad less rain means it is time to get out my favourite shoes

I love these clogs, they are so bright and Spring like.

I also finished and delivered the 'baby project'

The 'Mum to be' loved it which was something of a relief, because one never knows with presents for such an important event.

And kudos where kudos is due, the bag was made from the pattern at attic24

I also started another project

Hopefully this will be ready for when the big sitting room is finally completed later this year.

Crafty catchup

This post is actually taken from my Livejournal post of April 30th.  I wasn't going to continue with this crafting blog as I thought it may be too time consuming and difficult to maintain 2 sites and LJ has been my bloggin home for so many years.  Also for some reason my internet connection doesn't like typepad and sometimes refuses to connect until the hub has been rebooted, but in the end I decided it would be nice to have a less trafficked place to post my knitting and crochet musings and pictures.

So here is my day before Beltaine post and pictures.

So yesterday afternoon was spent chilling and crochetting. And isn't that a surprise to all of you? Not.

I am blisteringly tired but I want to do things so that we are ready for Beltaine. So this morning I got up and cleaned the conservatory.





The strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs are coming on well. Unfortunately it is raining here in Wales this morning so it looks rather grey outside. We are trying to decide where to go for the sunrise ceremony tomorrow. Right now Llansteffan is looking likeliest but if it's raining it's gonna be kinda miserable and a longer journey home for potentially wet two leggeds and four leggeds so we may just end up heading to the usual spot at the Lighthouse at Burry Port which is five minutes down the mountain road. Guess we'll see in the morning.

In other news, once I finished the baby project (pics to come later) I decided I needed a new yarn bag so began work on this...

Well now it looks like this

The pattern for the bag comes from a blog I visit daily and absolutely love here at attic24 anyone looking for inspiration would do well to visit Lucy's wonderful blog.  I rommend it regularly on my other blog over at Livejournal.

And here it is in situ - so to speak...

It is full of wonderful Peaches and Creme cotton yarn which is my stock yarn for household projects.  In fact on the top of the yarn bag you can see the beginning of a circular cushion cover for the rocking chair in the conservatory.
