So I am on an extended vacation for Easter and very nice it is too.
We are not doing much, but I guess that's what a vacation is supposed to be about. We completed the big holiday clean up and then settled down to resting and relaxing. The weather hasn't exactly been great so there has not been as much day tripping as we would have liked, none in fact but we can just as easily enjoy ourselves at home.
I love being able to spend time on the little things around the house when I'm on holiday. Making up the bed with all the best linen and extra pillows that usually stay hidden away in cupboards except on high days and holidays. And I love buying flowers and filling my vases and jugs with them especially when there are lovely bunches of gerberas everywhere. I went a little bit mad on Saturday and bought 3 big bunches in thh supermarket, but they were well worth it.
I love these pink ones the best but I bought three different colours to make the conservatory bright and cheerful.
As well as buying cut flowers I have also been buying yarn.
I am trying out the Patons cotton to see if I could use it as a cheaper alternative to the Rowan cotton, but sadly it is not going to work. The texture does not lend itself well to the kind of projects I wish to make with it and the colours are actually rather dull. they look better in the picture than they actually are for real. I will see how the current project works out and how useful it is but I doubt I will be buying any more of this.
In happier crafting/crochet news I made a coupel of Spring Wreaths a la Attic24. One for each of the sitting rooms.
And in situ below the small sitting room mantle
And one for the big sitting room
I love these. The are so bright and colourful and easy to make. I already have wonderful ideas for Christmas ones, if I get the time.
I also discovered African Flowers, thanks to a friend at my Stitch and Bitch. They are a brilliant and versatile variation on the crochet hexagon and you can do soooo much with them.
So I made a cushion/pillow. This is the front, with the flowers.
And the fastening, which I am just a little bit in love with...
And the new couch in the big sitting room with cushions.
I really wish I'd kept some of my old crochet stuff now, but I'm having so much fun making new stuff I guess it won't matter soon.
Well that's all I have for now. O. xxxxxxxx
